In sports, in politics, in spirituality, in industries, and in almost every field, you wake up to another morning only to read about the rise and the fall of another from iconic status. His involvement in sports gives him an iconic status. Then, he starts enjoying his position in sports, instead of sports. He entered politics to serve the masses, and his efforts in that direction gives him an iconic status. Now, he starts enjoying his position in politics, instead of what he can do for the masses through politics. When you forsake what gave you the ascent, now you have only one way – you got to descend. When you stop to rise, you start to fall.
His undivided attention was God. He enjoyed the processes of spiritual alignment. His spiritual alignment gave him spiritual progress and as a by-product he gained spiritual powers. The masses benefitted out of this one man. He begins to enjoy the adulation of the masses. Cut-outs, posters, media attention, celebrity following, everything follows him. He finds, men service his ego a lot better than god. He reduces his time with god and the processes of spiritual alignment, and spends more time with his followers. He starts talking a lot more about meditation and less time meditating. He has started enjoying his position in spirituality than spirituality. When God is your strength, you are pushed up. When men become your weakness, you are pushed out.
That which does not progress, does not grow. That which does not grow, dies.
Enjoy the game and not your position in the game. The game will give you life. Your addiction to the position in the game will strangulate you. Enjoy science and not your position in science. Science will help you discover. Your obsession to the position in science will make you go undercover. Enjoy spirituality and not your position in spirituality. Spirituality will show you heaven on earth. Your craving for a position in spirituality will show you only hell.
Leave the destination to Him. You focus on the journey. The way to the picnic should be more enjoyable than the picnic itself. Leave the fruits of your action unto Him, and dedicate yourself to the process of excellence. Let all the results that come your way feed your sense of responsibility and not your sense of status. Identify yourself with the cause and never the applause.
Life is best described in the ‘Present Continuous Tense’ – loving, learning, improving, growing, arriving, seeking, realising, becoming… In almost all the aspects, professional and personal, expect more from yourself than you expect from the world. Also ensure, the standards you set for yourself is higher than the standards the world expects of you. You go as far as you can see, and when you reach there, you will always see further. When the striving stops, the fall begins.
Buddha repeatedly said, “Charaiveti Charaiveti,” meaning, “go on, go on, and never stop; become an eternal journey. Let your life be a never-ending quest.”
Till your heart stops you don’t stop. If the body is still breathing, then you should be still striving… Charaiveti… Charaiveti…
